Monika is a PhD candidate at the Institute for Biomedical Sciences at the University of Maribor, where she joined after completing her MSc in Biotechnology at the University of Ljubljana. She is developing an advanced in vitro human skin model using 3D printing technique for testing non-invasive glucose sensors. During her studies, she also completed a research internship at Ghent University, Belgium, at the Centre for Microbial Ecology and Technology, where she investigated the use of anaerobic microorganisms for a more efficient use of natural resources.
