M.Sc. Ajda Godec
PhD candidate
Ajda is a PhD student at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Maribor, where she works after completing two master’s degrees in biochemistry and chemical education at the University of Ljubljana. As part of her MSc thesis in Biochemistry, she investigated 13α-estrone and tetrahydronaphthalene-1 derivatives as potential inhibitors of aldo-keto reductases and their effect on cell lines of high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma. In her MSc thesis in chemical education, she focused on the development of protocols for laboratory exercises for students in the field of β-galactosidase enzyme kinetics.
Her PhD work continues with the development of a new advanced in vitro model of the pancreas using advanced biomedical engineering techniques such as 3D microfluidic bioprinting.
